SpaceClaim eliminates geometry bottlenecks, allowing analysts to concentrate on their simulations, whether de-featuring CAD models, removing fluid domains, or simplifying a model for beam and shell components. Reduce Prep Time for SimulationĪnsys SpaceClaim 2021 provides analysts with tools to speed up simulation training for geometry. Ansys SpaceClaim 2021 is suitable for engineers who do not have time for heavy CAD devices but want to get 3D responses quickly and need to do so. You can de-feature and simplify geometry with digital, easy-to-learn instruments when working with existing CAD models. Without the complexities associated with conventional CAD systems, Ansys SpaceClaim 2021‘s unique user interface, modeling technology, and flexible toolset help you build and change imported geometry. Just some tools I hadn't used before.Description ANSYS SpaceClaim 2021 Overview Another learning curve there but all the basics were still applicable and now I'm really glad I use Blender as I didn't have to learn yet another program. I modelled the base hard surface using my usual techniques and then switched to using the sculpt tools for the first time. Then over the Christmas holidays I had a project that was more suited to sculpting. The ability to modify and FIX stuff downloaded from the usual sites should not be underestimated 🙂 By the time I had graduated to designing my own stuff it was just much easier to continue using Blender. Which is what I was originally doing when I first got my 3d printer. While Blender was harder to learn I found it much better for modifying existing stl files. Admittedly that was an older version and I hear they have made improvements since.

Fusion I dropped once they altered the terms and Freecad just kept crashing all the time for me. While tinkercad is a great tool, its a bit limiting.

I had previously tried Freecad and Fusion too, as well as tinkercad. Until very recently that is all I used it for. However you can do hard surface in Blender, its been mainly what I've done in the past. I agree that starting out with parametric is better/easier for hard surface models, if that's the type of stuff you want to design, its way easier to learn.
